Introduction

Hello! My name is Erica, and I’m glad to be able to share a bit of my little world with you. I’m a Christian language nut whose best language is English (and I’m still not fluent, go figure). If there’s anyone out there who’s entirely fluent in English, please let me know. You are my personal greatest role model now.
I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to my interests, seeing as my favorite books are almost all by C.S. Lewis and the only types of music that I’ll actively choose to listen to are contemporary Christian, soundtrack (please google Michael Giacchino), and epic music (it’s okay if you don’t know what that is).
In my personal opinion, there’s nothing more important than the sacrifice that Christ made for all of us to save us of our sins even though we had done nothing to deserve it. That’s called grace, and that’s the reason that Jesus is the only way to heaven. We can’t earn our way to heaven; in fact, we deserve nothing more than to die and spend eternity in torture. (Indeed, it sounds morbid. Unfortunately that’s how it works.) Inter grace, however, and most importantly, inter Jesus.
I named my blog Love and the Reasons why because I intend to use it to spread the love of Christ one word at a time. I appreciate anyone who just so happens to be here checking it out!

    Erica, Just from your intro post you seem to be someone I cannot wait to get to know! I also can't wait to learn what "epic music" is! Are you going to be a freshman at Faulkner in the Fall?

Meditations: In the Interest of Others

 B efore reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, a personal journal written almost 2000 years ago by a man who was once the leader of the Roman Empire, it’s easy to assume that the book will contain nothing relevant to the average modern human being. Aurelius writes it for himself, as a reminder of how he should act on a daily basis, without ever intending for it to be read by anyone else. It isn’t designed to be read by college kids 2000 years later. Wisdom, however, stands the test of both time and social class. What is wise for a great emperor is also wise for a full-time university student. One problem that the world seems to have today is that people constantly disagree and rarely use civil discourse to come to any sort of understanding of one another. Darkness and thick smoke surrounded Jacob Muller as he stood in the deep wreckage. He didn't have time to think. It didn't necessarily come down to the fact that this was his job. It surely didn't come down to the idea that he would be considered a hero after this. It most certainly didn't come down to him having a huge desire to run further into a burning skyscraper. It came down to that one faint word that he heard coming from the caved ceiling above him.  "Help."
